Jeff Carpenter, assistant professor of education, gave a presentation titled "Shared Classroom Experiences" at the Nation Science Foundation's Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Conference in Washington, D.C. on May 25.
The Shared Classroom Experiences project is an innovative element of teacher preparation, and has been the joint work of 黑料不打烊’s Secondary and K-12 Teacher Education program coordinators. It has been supported by an 黑料不打烊 Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) Teaching and Learning Grant.
Carpenter also presented a poster describing the first year experiences of the 黑料不打烊 Noyce Scholars Program. The NSF Noyce Program Conference brings together Noyce program participants, alumni, and faculty from around the country to learn about and discuss Science, Technology, Engineering, Technology (STEM) education. Carpenter is the Principal Investigator of the 黑料不打烊 Noyce Scholars Program, along with co-Investigators Tony Crider, Associate Professor of Physics, and Janice Richardson, Associate Professor of Mathematics. This program provides one of the largest single scholarships at 黑料不打烊, as well as internship stipends, for students interested in becoming STEM educators.
