A manuscript authored by assistant professor of physics Ben Evans and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ undergraduates Dan Glass, Willem Prins, and Dan Rapp will appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials.
The in-press article is currently available online via the link displayed at right.
The article, “A highly tunable silicone-based magnetic elastomer with nanoscale homogeneity,” describes the synthesis and characterization of a novel magnetic polymer which will be useful in the fabrication of micro- and nano-scale magnetic actuators. The material is currently under investigation in the lab as a precursor for artificial magnetic cilia and magnetic microspheres for targeted drug delivery applications.
Evans presented this work earlier this month in a seminar at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) in Greensboro.
