Alexis Martinez has been named assistant dean for student affairs at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law. She earned degrees in higher education administration and law from the University of Miami. Meanwhile, Lisa Watson joins the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Law library with degrees in law and library science from the University of Kentucky School of Law and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In the 1970s and early 1980s Gary Bailey, former ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ faculty member in human service studies and currently counselor in Health and Counseling Services, was a member of a popular regional R&B group called “Brief Encounter.” A couple of years ago Gary discovered that Brief Encounter has become one of the leading cult R&B groups among record collectors. He was shocked when he noticed that copies of their first album were selling for over $2,000 on eBay. The most recent sale was over $2500. Brief Encounter is back in business and about to release its first recording in nearly 30 years, all for the benefit of Haitian Earthquake Relief.

Former ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ basketball forward Adam Constantine departed the United States this month to take a big leap toward his dream of playing in the NBA. Constantine has signed with Rilski Sportist of the Bulgarian and Balkan leagues and will spend the next year living in the town of Samokov in southwest Bulgaria. He will be keeping a blog of his experiences overseas.

Lindsay Travis Bedford '05, who received the Autism Society of North Carolina's Teacher of the Year Award in April, was recently profiled by the Chapel Hill News.
