Seven new faculty members with strong professional and educational backgrounds joined the ranks of teacher-scholars in the School of Communications in Fall 2010.

Bobby Morris, automotive maintenance assistant at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ more than eight years, died Aug. 23. For the past three years, he had been handling automotive duties along with driving ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ shuttle buses for special events and field trips. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, Aug. 27 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home, 1030 South Main Street, Graham, N.C. The funeral service will be held at McClure Funeral Home at 7 p.m. following visitation hours.

For decades, art historians ignored the work of impressionist painters who used their talent to paint scenes of domestic life in 19th century America. A forthcoming book by associate professor Kirstin Ringelberg argues that it’s time for scholars to reexamine these paintings, which depict a more complex story of the time normally seen to show women simply as “decorative” objects.

Students now have expanded e-mail capability as a result of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's partnership with Google. All student e-mail accounts have been converted to Google’s web-based e-mail service, Gmail. The conversion took place on June 1 and required no action from students. Returning students' e-mail addresses (student@elon.edu) and passwords remain the same. Inbox contents, including calendar appointments and contacts, were automatically transferred to the new Gmail accounts.
