In 2005, he founded of Faith in America, an N.C.-based national nonprofit organization that works to educate the public about the harm caused when religion is misused to justify bigotry, prejudice, discrimination and violence against gay and lesbian Americans. He published CRISIS in September 2008 as a tool to help people better understand the harm caused by a societal climate of rejection and condemnation and the book has been transforming hearts and minds ever since.
