David Hibbard has been named director of communications for the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law in Greensboro. He will be responsible for the law school’s communications efforts including media relations, print publications and Web site development.
Hibbard has served as director of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ news bureau since 2000, handling local and regional media relations, writing stories for university publications and promoting the work of students and faculty. He also managed the publicity of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Poll results, which have been carried by national media outlets such as CNN, The Washington Post and San Francisco Chronicle.
Working with colleagues in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s university relations office, Hibbard has been part of teams that have won awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for effective media relations and publications programs. He has served as staff liaison to the communications committee of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s National Alumni Executive Board, and serves on the board and as treasurer of the College News Association of the Carolinas.
A 1989 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumnus, Hibbard worked in athletics media relations at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ from 1993 to 1999, serving as sports information director and assistant director of athletics. He has served as radio play-by-play announcer for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Phoenix football broadcasts and has hosted the weekly radio call-in show with head coach Pete Lembo.
