Periclean-in-Residence featured on “20/20” segment

Lucy Steinitz, who will visit ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in January to serve as the first returning Periclean-in-Residence, was interviewed for a story on AIDS in Africa on ABC’s news program, “20/20.”

Steinitz, co-founder of Catholic AIDS Action, the largest faith-based non-governmental organization (NGO) working on the problem of AIDS in Africa, was interviewed at the Bernhard Nordkamp Centre in Windhoek, Namibia. The story concentrated on the efforts of people like Steinitz and Stephen Lewis, U.N. Envoy on AIDS, to fight the disease on the African continent. The Nordkamp Centre is a drop-in facility for orphans, vulnerable children and mothers who are in need.

Steinitz will teach a Winter Term course at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in January about AIDS orphans in January. She first visited ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in November 2005 to serve as a Periclean-in-Residence.
