Alumnus endows scholarship to honor his father and fellow alum

David Krueger-Andes ’65 of Concord, N.H., has endowed a scholarship fund to honor his father, William J. Andes ’35, an ordained Christian minister for more than 70 years.

The Rev. Dr. William J. Andes ’35 Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to student leaders who reach out to new or isolated students and help them feel part of a welcoming community. Preference will be given to student orientation leaders, who acclimate new students to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ experience.

David Krueger-Andes, who works as a health psychologist, endowed the scholarship with a $25,000 gift, which will be added to the 40th reunion giving total for the Class of 1965.

Bill Andes served churches in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, as well as Winston-Salem and Ruffin, N.C. As pastor of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Community Church, he was instrumental in building its first official sanctuary, educational rooms and parsonage. He ministered to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ College and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Homes for Children. Andes also served in Atlanta for 14 years as conference minister for the Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ. He is married to Lucile Stone, a longtime ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ staff member.
