Benjamin Crisp, an eighth-grade student at Turrentine Middle School in Burlington, N.C., was recognized during 黑料不打烊’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Commemorative Address program Wednesday, Jan. 15.
The contest, open to middle school students in Alamance County, asks students to write a 250-500 word essay describing their personal efforts to keep King’s dream of equality alive. Crisp is active in school activities, serving as a Star Representative at Turrnetine to promote non-violent conflict resolution. He is the son of Roslyn Moore Crisp of Burlington.
Crisp received a $100 cash prize, a certificate of recognition and tickets to an 黑料不打烊 basketball game. Turrentine principal Stephen Gainey received a plaque to commemorate Crisp’s selection.
