More than 100 students who have maintained a minimum 3.2 grade point average at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ were recognized during the banquet.
Special awards were given to one male and female student in each class, as well as the male and female student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point avereage.
Special award recipients were:
- Freshman female-Brandy Troxler
- Freshman male-Bernard Coston
- Sophomore female-Eden Esters
- Sophomore male-Michael Brandon
- Junior female-Raechel Hester
- Junior male-Phillipe Charles
- Senior female-Kristina Foster
- Senior male-Darris Means
- Female athlete-Rochelle Reid
- Male athlete-Michael Brandon
The banquet program included remarks by Shelia Dove Burnette ’95, assistant principal at Rashkis Elementary School in Chapel Hill, NC. A past recipient of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Black Excellence Academic Award, Burnette completed the N.C. Teaching Fellows program at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and graduated magna cum laude from the honors program. She has been a teacher and administrator in public schools in the Alamance-Burlington and Chapel Hill-Carrboro public schools.
