Peking Acrobats to perform March 12

The Peking Acrobats will perform at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 12 in McCrary Theatre, located on the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ campus. Their appearance is part of the Anne Ellington Powell Master Artist Series, which brings internationally acclaimed artists in dance, drama and music to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.

The group of 26 gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers from the People’s Republic of China is the largest of its kind, performing the 2,000-year-old folk art of acrobatics with live accompaniment from a traditional Chinese orchestra. Created in 1952, the company is directed and choreographed by Hai Ken Tsai, a third-generation Chinese acrobat.
The acrobats, who are hand-selected, frequently begin acrobatic training at an early age, often as young as 5 years old.

Tickets for the performance are $15, or free for those with valid ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
