Gerald Whittington, vice president for business, finance and technology at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, has announced the promotion of Ken Mullen to assistant vice president for business and finance. Mullen has served as ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s comptroller since 1993.
“I am pleased that Ken will take on a more expanded leadership role in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s financial management,” Whittington says. “He has implemented more efficient and streamlined procedures for our accounting department, and has utilized the latest technology to insure the integrity of our financial systems. I look forward to his continued efforts and leadership in this important work.”
Mullen has overall responsibility for various financial operations at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, including accounting, payroll, budget management and internal auditing. He was integral in the closing of three bond issues which provided funding for major construction projects at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, such as McMichael Science Building and new student apartments. As comptroller, he refined ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s accounting procedures and implemented on-line banking and laser check printing.

Mullen received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Toledo. He previously worked as comptroller at the New York Botanical Garden’s Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, N.Y. He also worked as a budget analyst and administrator of business affairs at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich.
