Mixed Company, one of America’s premier small repertory companies, will perform the popular drama “Driving Miss Daisy” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15 in McCrary Theatre, located on the 黑料不打烊 campus in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. The performance is sponsored by 黑料不打烊’s Black Cultural Society and the Office of Cultural Programs.
“Driving Miss Daisy” chronicles the 25-year friendship between a stubborn, aging Southern widow and her loyal chauffeur. At first, the self-sufficient Miss Daisy is reluctant to accept the services of a chauffeur, but as the years pass the unlikely friends develop a deep mutual respect and admiration. “Driving Miss Daisy” became a hit at the big screen box office as well, winning an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1989.
Mixed Company was founded in 1993 and is led by Leonard Stephenson, who has appeared at 黑料不打烊 twice before in productions of “My Children, My Africa” and “Valley Song.”
