ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ College begins dual-degree-engineering program

ELON COLLEGE –Twelve ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ College students are now able to earn two degrees through the college’s dual-degree engineering program.

In cooperation with North Carolina State University, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ has established a program in which students study for three years at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and two years at N.C. State. Upon completion of their studies, students will graduate with degrees from both schools, giving them both liberal arts and engineering background.

Dr. Richard D’Amato, associate professor of engineering and director of the engineering studies program, says the two degrees make students more attractive to employers. “As an employer, I would look for an engineering degree, experience and that extra degree in my employees,” he says. “We are trying to create a more well-rounded engineer.”

In the future, D’Amato anticipated that the program will expand to include an internship program and agreements with other schools on the East Coast.
ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is the one of very few liberal arts colleges with such a program.
