Let鈥檚 Talk is an outreach program that provides easy access to free, casual conversations with clinicians from 黑料不打烊 Counseling Services as a drop-in resource. There is NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY!

Who can participate in Let鈥檚 Talk?听
All currently enrolled 黑料不打烊 students are welcome to use this program. Students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

What happens at a visit to Let鈥檚 Talk?听
You can talk about whatever is important to聽you.聽The counselor will listen closely to your concerns聽to facilitate problem solving聽and provide support, perspective, guidance, and suggestions for referral resources.

Who should visit Let鈥檚 Talk?听

Let’s Talk聽is a good fit for students who:
– are not sure about counseling and wonder what it is like to talk with a counselor
– want to talk through a specific problem with someone
– have a concern about a friend and want some thoughts about what to do
– are not interested in ongoing counseling but would like the perspective of a counselor

Let’s Talk聽is NOT a good fit for students who:
– are currently in crisis
– experiencing current thoughts of self harm or harming others
– seeking therapy services

Is Let鈥檚 Talk different from clinical counseling provided by Counseling Services?听
Although Let鈥檚 Talk counselors are licensed mental health professionals, Let鈥檚 Talk聽is not formal counseling聽and is not a substitute for mental health treatment聽— it聽is a聽brief,聽drop-in聽conversation with a counselor聽(typically less than聽15聽minutes).

No, Let鈥檚 Talk聽is not a clinical service.聽For students needing urgent crisis support聽(e.g., thoughts of harming self or others), a Counselor-on-Call is available by calling (336) 278-2222.

础谤别听Let’s Talk visits confidential?听聽
Conversations with “Let’s Talk” counselors are private聽but not considered confidential. “Let’s Talk” visits are never noted on a student’s official university record聽nor as a part of Counseling Services clinical records.

鈥淚 am currently seeing a counselor in Counseling Services and would like to talk to someone sooner than my next appointment. Can I go to Let鈥檚 Talk?鈥澛
Let鈥檚 Talk is not a substitute for counseling. If you would like to meet with your Counseling Services counselor sooner than your next appointment, it is best to contact your counselor directly or call the Counseling Services main office at (336) 278-7280.

鈥淚 am currently seeing a counselor at Counseling Services, and I鈥檓 not happy with how things are going.聽 Can I go to Let鈥檚 Talk 颈苍蝉迟别补诲?鈥澛
The best thing to do in this situation is to talk directly with your counselor. Counselors are eager to get your feedback, positive or negative.聽 Often, an open conversation about your concern helps smooth out any wrinkles.聽 If, after talking with your counselor, you prefer to transfer to someone else, just contact聽Counseling Services聽to schedule with another counselor.
