WE Talk: Building Resilience in Your Career
Wednesday, February 19 | 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET | Zoom
Join the Women of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and author Cate LeSourd ’15 for a discussion about resilience in the workplace. Whether it’s unexpected layoffs, a lack of opportunities, uncertainty of plans after graduation, or issues finding a job, the real world has no shortage of difficulties. How do you navigate these challenges in your career? How do you keep going when times are hard? Learn how Cate experienced multiple job losses before she turned 30 and how resilience helped her step into a more fulfilling path – even if it meant more change. Questions will be taken in advance and live, and there will be time for group discussion for alumni and students to connect about the experiences of hardship and the importance of resilience in the professional world. WE Talk: Disrupting Norms – Women’s Basketball Case Study
WE (Women of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ) Talk is a new virtual discussion series led by women for women. For our inaugural episode, Erica L. Ayala ’08 and Dr. Shelby McKay ’13 took a deep dive into ways women are disrupters in business, using women’s basketball as a case study. They discussed how mega deals like Ally are changing the landscape, the trajectory of former players becoming coaches and executives, the rise of self-advocacy (especially for Black women in the space), and what additional opportunities NIL provides. After an engaging conversation, attendees split up into breakout rooms to discuss how these trends relate to their own industries and how women are agents of change in all professions.
