Collectively, the Master of Arts in Higher Education at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and dispositions required to be an effective professional in the field of higher education. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s MHE program curriculum is organized around nine learning outcomes within three broad themes: engaged learning and student development, foundations of higher education administration and professional practice.

MHE Curriculum

A Theory to Practice Model

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ MHE is a 36-hour, cohort-based program centered around three themes. Courses are designed to build on and deepen students’ learning as they progress through the program, with the capstone seminar requiring students to integrate their knowledge and skills, and to work in teams to apply their understanding in the development of a resolution to an authentic problem in a campus program/department. Part-time pathways are available for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ employees and usually complete in three years.

Academic Calendar

Complete the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ MHE in 2 years

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ MHE program academic calendar runs from August to May. All courses are in person and students participate in a graduate apprenticeship as well as two internships that can be completed during the semesters or over the summer. Join in our full-time cohort of twelve and finish in 2 years.

Internships

Gain a Diverse Array of Higher Education Experience

To gain experience in a variety of higher education settings, students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Higher Education at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ will participate in two university-approved internships that include a one credit seminar. Some internships might provide a small stipend or alternative compensation. Internship seminars in the fall and spring are in person, and online in the summer to accommodate internships outside the Piedmont region of North Carolina.
